Herdwick Hut

Nestled into the surrounding woodland of this stunning farm location, these homely shepherd huts offer privacy, comfort and idyllic views that stretch far over Taunton Vale and Exmoor National Park. Right from your doorstep, you can immerse yourself in the wildlife and beauty of the Quantock Hills, exploring through scenic country lanes and charming footpaths and trails. 

The largest of the shepherd huts on the site, Herdwick Hut, boasts a warming palette of Farrow & Ball painted woodwork and William Morris and Sanderson soft furnishings, and a fitted L-shape sofa provides a comfortable area to relax in front of the Devon baker stove which creates an intimate space. 

There is a compact but very well-equipped kitchen space with solid oak worktops, Shaw mini butler sink and a Neff hob. Other amenities include a fridge as well as all the necessary cutlery, crockery and washing utensils. The wood burner features a small oven, perfect for warming up any food you've gathered during your adventures. Alternatively you can enjoy some al fresco dining with the kadai fire bowl grill on the deck of the property. 

There is a snug interior dining space where guests can sit and enjoy the welcome breakfast hamper which is sourced from the local farm shop or sit and play some of the games on offer if it's a rainy day. Tilbury Farm can also provide further meals to be delivered during your stay should you wish, these include farm shop prepared ready-meals and local venison steaks or burgers.

Herdwick Hut sleeps 4 adults and features a separate sleeping area which has a comfortable queen size bed set cosily in an alcove. A second double bed  is cleverly hidden away in the wall during the day to ensure you can fully enjoy the space. Simply fold down the bed in the evening and snuggle into the woollen mattress topper and Devon wool duvet and snooze the night away. Extra blankets and hot water bottles can be provided upon request to ensure you have the best night's sleep possible. 

The hut boasts a private en-suite shower room with a basin, full-size shower and instant hot and cold water. Guests are provided with linen and towels throughout their stay as well as Quantock Lavender toiletries which are produced in the local area. 

The hut features a private deck space outside, providing an unparalleled view across the vale and offering a front-row seat to some of the best sunrises and sunsets around. You can cook up a BBQ, enjoy a romantic glass of champagne, or simply relax and immerse yourself in nature's elements. The highlight of these charming shepherd huts is undoubtedly the private hot tubs, and guests of Herdwick hut can enjoy it free of charge for your entire stay. Group Stays

The shepherd huts are perfect for group bookings and come with the option of a communal entertaining space. This area includes a cosy gazebo, outdoor furniture, and a small barn for extra storage. Additionally, a portable pizza oven with ready-made pizza dough can be provided for a small fee, ensuring you can enjoy delicious, freshly baked pizzas during your stay.

Things to know about the property…

• There is a security deposit of £100 required for the property which is fully refundable upon satisfactory inspection of the property.
• Smaller huts, Jacobs and Romney receive 2 complimentary bags of logs per night, whilst the larger hut, Herdwick receives 3. More can be purchased if required for £5 per bag.
• There is secure storage for bikes onsite at Tilbury Farm.
• If guests of Herdwick hut would like the hot tub pre-heated there is an extra charge of £30. Please note the hot tub takes 3 hours to heat up.
• There are laundry facilities on the site, so guests have use of a washer and dryer
• Parking available in an off street car park close by. You will be met on arrival and your bags will be driven to the hut which is approximately 150 metres away.
