Learn More About the Area

When staying in one of our Cheshire cottages you can jump in the car for a short drive to the vibrant town of Knutsford, home to Tatton park, one of Britain's most complete historic estates, with Tudor Hall, a neo-classical mansion, lavish gardens, a deer park and an adventure playground too! Tatton also hosts many annual events, such as RHS Tatton flower show, Classic car show and many more. Knutsford itself is a bustling market town and was the model for the novel Cranford by renowned author, Elizabeth Gaskell. Wander the narrow streets and independent shops, bars and eateries; or sample the local produce at one of the foodie markets

For those interested in astronomy, our Cheshire holiday properties are on the doorstep of the impressive UNESCO World Heritage site, Jodrell Bank. The Observatory holds various events and exhibitions-including the renowned Science and Music festival-Bluedot. In 2022, Jodrell Bank opened the First Light pavilion, which includes a gallery dedicated to telling its story, an education hub, a café, and an immersive projection space and auditorium-a must for guests young or old.

Further afield is the Peak District, where there are many great days out to be enjoyed nestled within this stunning landscape. Cycle the family-friendly Monsal trail, climb the mighty gritstone ridge, The Roaches-or simply sit back and take in the impressive views in a cable car ride at the Heights of Abraham.  For those who prefer to keep their feet a little closer to the ground, why not wander the gardens and trails at the magnificent Chatsworth House Estate or Lyme Park

For a rainy day, the vibrant city of Manchester is just thirty minutes on the train from Goostrey station, where you will find many galleries, museums, exhibitions, theatres and excellent shopping. Alternatively, the ancient cathedral city of Chester is also thirty minutes by car, where you can take a rowing boat down the River Dee, and explore the Roman city walls and amphitheatre. Chester Races are also a superb day out, with regular fixtures across the season.

Indulge in evening entertainment closer to home, and get dressed up for a night out in the heart of the "golden triangle"-Alderley Edge, a great spot for people-watching from one of the many restaurants and bar terraces.
