Beacon Hill also boasts a private lake!  Meg’s Lake is available for all guests to take a relaxing dip, paddleboard or even a spot of fishing, as the lake is stocked annually with Rainbow Trout. It’s an amazing way to get outdoors and make the most of the tranquil rural setting. If you prefer to enjoy your sports on dry land, the farm also has its own Gym, Boules Court and Croquet Lawn, with a tennis coach available for guests looking to improve their skills – including tailored lessons for children.

For a more indulgent day altogether, guests can choose to pamper themselves at the Beacon Hill Farm Spa which is open all year round. As well as a laconium therapy room, sauna, jacuzzi and heated swimming pool, there are a wide range of treatments available to guests, including facials, full body massage and much more. Or simply relax in the orangery and take in the beautiful views with a glass of something special. 

Beacon Hill Farm is located deep in the unspoilt countryside between the Cheviot Hills and the incredible Northumberland Heritage coast and is perfectly placed to enjoy the many charming towns and villages in the surrounding area. 

The delightful market town of Morpeth, is just on the doorstep. Situated along the River Wansbeck, it offers picturesque riverside walks, a vibrant shopping scene, and a rich heritage reflected in landmarks like Morpeth Chantry. Known for its warm community and weekly market, it’s a delightful way to spend an afternoon.

Druridge Bay is just over 20 minutes away, and it is the perfect spot to begin your exploration of some of the most beautiful coastline in the UK. Known for its expansive, golden sands, framed by dunes and meadows, Druridge Bay is a great place for nature enthusiasts, cyclists and watersports lovers. Coquet Shorebase offer paddleboard hire and kayaking experiences throughout the spring and summer months for those looking to develop their skills.

The region is home to numerous ancient castles, including the iconic Alnwick Castle, which was a filming location for Harry Potter and the majestic Bamburgh Castle, both steeped in history and folklore of dragons and vampires. Bamburgh is 40 minutes north of the cottages and well worth the drive. As well as the castle, which has a seasonal programme of events all year round, this charming village is best known for its stunning views of the North Sea, and has retained its title as the UK’s best seaside destination four years in a row! There is also a pretty impressive golf course for those looking to put in a round or two.  

Just south of Bamburgh is the quaint fishing village of Seahouses known for its bustling harbour, seafood restaurants, cosy pubs and stunning coastal views. Indulge in a tasty supper of fish and chips from Hook's or Lewis's among others. Often referred to as the gateway to the Farne Islands, visitors can enjoy boat trips around the islands which are teeming with wildlife. Holy Island, rich in history dating back to the 7th-century, invites you to explore its ancient priory, dramatic landscapes, and serene beaches. The stunning Northumberland National Park is just a 25-minute drive away from Beacon Hill Farm and is an incredible spot for keen hikers and nature enthusiasts. With sweeping moorlands and picturesque valleys, the park is home to the iconic Hadrian's Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and boasts some of the darkest skies in the UK, making it a prime location for stargazing. Beacon Hill lies just on the border of this Dark Sky area and consequently the night skies there are inky black, fantastic for nighttime views. There is a small observatory on the site, available to all guests free of charge, making it the perfect spot for your next dark skies break.

Drive a little further afield to Kielder Forest and you will be well rewarded for the journey. This man-made forest covers 250 square miles of breathtaking landscapes and surrounds Kielder Water, creating a wildlife haven. This beauty spot is a hub for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and watersports if you’re feeling adventurous.

If you’re looking for something a little livelier and fast paced the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne is just 30 minutes away. With a rich history and dynamic culture, Newcastle boasts famous landmarks like the Tyne Bridge and Newcastle Castle, which gave the city its name. With its warm hospitality and lively nightlife, Newcastle exudes good energy and charm.
