Visit this magical piece of history
Lying in the grounds of a beautiful golf course near Drymen, the fascinating ruins of Buchanan Castle offer a magical insight into the history of Loch Lomond. Once the family home of the Duke of Montrose, Clan Graham, you can still view the exterior of this remarkable landmark. Now intertwined with the trees and greenery of the site the castle has a rather ethereal, sometimes spooky, appearance.
Built in 1852, the castle remained a family home until 1925, when it was sold. With its stunning turrets and sweeping entrance it has a somewhat fairytale appearance making it worthy of a visit.
