With outstanding views towards the Atlantic Ocean and magnificent sandy beaches, Carbis Bay is a coastal haven located to the south east of St Ives. It is the perfect spot for a long family day at the beach, particularly in the summer when the bay’s natural shelter and tranquil waters make it the ideal place for a dip. 

The gentle surf also makes it a great beach for those wishing to try their hand at a little paddle boarding or kayaking in calm conditions. The Ocean Sports Centre is based on the waterfront at Carbis Bay and offers everything from guided tours to private lessons with experienced teachers. They even hire out deck chairs if you just want to sit back and watch the fun with an ice cream in hand.

Carbis Bay Beach Club Restaurant overlooks the sparkling blue water and offers visitors a touch of luxury with a delicious menu of local and Mediterranean inspired delights or you can enjoy a little bit of glamour at Walter’s on the Beach, which treats visitors to amazing cocktails in an award-winning setting.

If relaxation and wellness are more your thing, C Bay Spa is also located right on the beach and offers a range of luxurious treatments from facials to massages for those who are truly looking to spoil themselves during their getaway. With its show stopping outdoor pool, swimmers can enjoy magnificent views across the bay while you take a dip or you can enjoy the soothing bubbles of the hot tub as you sit back and relax with glass of fizz.

Ready to pull on your walking boots? Guests can walk from Carbis Bay to St Ives following the route of the stunning South West Coast Path which is approximately 1.5 miles. With well kept, and easy to follow pathways it is a relatively easy walk with gentle ascents making it one of the more accessible and family friendly parts. Alternatively you can hop in the car which only takes ten minutes but with the views you get from the walk, it is definitely worthwhile, and there are many points of interest to spot along the way such as a Celtic Medieval Church and even a shipwreck or two. 

St Ives is known to be one of the best family destinations in the south west with its magical cobbled streets, quaint, independent shops, eateries and plenty of historical landmarks and attractions to keep you occupied. Most notably, with its golden sands and clear blue waters, St Ives is known to have some of the best beaches in Cornwall, each with it’s own range of activities and points of interest that will have you eager to dip your toes in.

Porthmoer Beach sits nestled between rocky headlands and gives visitors the opportunity to learn to surf, explore the many rockpools or stop for a delicious treat at the Beach Café which is a fantastic spot to rest and watch the sun set. Porthgwidden Beach is a beautiful sandy cove lined with beach huts and is the perfect places for a long, lazy lunch or a brisk walk on a colder day. Porthminster Beach is perhaps the best one for families with water perfect for paddling when the tide is low, plenty of space for sandcastles and ball games and a choice of places to pick up a snack or stop for lunch.

The Tate gallery overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and showcases extraordinary works which bring stories of the Cornish coast to life. Presenting modern and contemporary art from around the world it is a must see and perfect for a rainy day.  The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Gardens also offers a fascinating glimpse into the life and art of this English artist who came to exemplify modernism. Visitors can take a tour around her home, studio and gardens lead by a knowledgeable and passionate tour guide. 

If you are looking for more child-friendly activities to keep them entertained, you will not be short of options. 

There are a number or horse riding schools dotted around St Ives, such as The Old Mill Stables, where the little ones can enjoy their very own pony ride under the guidance of experienced professionals. Standingstone also offer lessons and trekking through one of the most beautiful locations in Cornwall. The stables cater for riders of all abilities and visitors can enjoy a gentle trot and progress to cantering and jumping if they're feeling confident. 

For a different kind of wildlife experience Paradise Park is just a 10 minutes drive from the property. This award-winning animal sanctuary is home to an array of species from penguins to miniature donkeys and offers a day of family fun in its Jungle Barn Play Centre, Red Panda Experience, Otter Pool Café and much more.

To burn off a little more energy Penwith Pitch and Putt promises a great day out with crazy golf, football golf and more, so you can challenge your family and friends to see who comes out on top as star athlete! For older children St Ives has its very own escape room. In Escape Time, it’s you against the clock in this challenge of speed and problem solving. Gather in teams of 2 to 6 people and rally together to find the treasure or escape the villain in these adrenalin-pumping games.

With so much to see and do during your stay at Baywatch, you are sure to have earned a delicious meal and maybe even a glass of your favourite tipple by the end of the day. La Casita is just a 10 minute walk away and boasts a casual, friendly atmosphere and Spanish inspired food made from delicious local produce. There is also an abundance of incredible restaurants in the centre of St Ives. At The Rum & Crab Shack you can savour delights such as fresh crab tacos or vegan jambalaya. The Loft Restaurant & Sun Terrace uses the best local ingredients and a range of beers and wines to enjoy on the sun terrace with beautiful views over the bay.
