A brief 3 minute walk from the apartment you will find the awe-inspiring Devonshire Dome. Built in 1779 this spectacular building hosts a variety of events throughout the year and welcomes visitors to explore its grand interior.  As one of the key landmarks of the Buxton skyline it is certainly worth a visit, especially as it is home to the award-winning Devonshire Spa. Here you can indulge in a range of  beauty treatments from expert therapists who can tend to your every need and provide a heavenly afternoon of relaxation. 

The Cavendish Shopping arcade is equally close, and whilst the collection of indie boutiques is definitely worth a visit, the building itself is stunning and speaks to its former life as Victorian thermal baths, with Minton tiles decorating the walls and an incredible stained glass ceiling flooding the space with light.

Pavilion Gardens are also just a short stroll away and this stunning historic venue dates back to 1871, displaying the Victorian grandeur of the era. Set within 23 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens the Pavilion offers the perfect family day out, hosting a variety of events and festivals throughout the year, from summer food festivals to Christmas fairs. There are also two brilliant adventure playgrounds in the gardens with plenty of space for the little ones to run around. 

Buxton Museum and Art Gallery is a delight for art and history lovers with over 1,200 pieces on display covering 360 million years of history. The Buxton Opera House is a fantastic place to enjoy a bit of music and culture in one of the many shows they exhibit throughout the year. An array of plays, musicals, comedy shows, movies and much more all take place in one of Britain’s leading provincial theatres.

Further afield, (a 20 minute walk) is the magnificent Poole’s Cavern, which boasts many strange and magical formations formed of limestone. Evidence of prehistoric life has even been found in the cave making it a landmark of great fascination. You will even be treated to homemade sweet treats and trinkets from the gift shop and artisan café. Beyond Poole’s Cavern, Solomon's Temple sits proudly overlooking the dramatic Peak District landscape, and can be viewed from the upper floors of The George. Built in the 1800’s this Victorian folly offers a delightful viewing spot to stop and take in the beautiful surroundings after a worthwhile walk. 

If you are looking for something more adventurous to entertain the littles there is plenty on offer in the area. Go Ape Buxton is just a 20 minute walk from the apartments or an even shorter drive. Built high in the tree canopy, the whole family can enjoy Tarzan swings, zip wires and climbing nets during a day of thrill-seeking fun. 

Brick Corner Cafe is definitely worth a visit if you’re travelling with younger kids. What might seem like your average coffee shop is far from it – it’s LEGO themed! With a huge variety of LEGO and DUPLO sets to keep little ones occupied for hours on end, grown ups can relax and enjoy a coffee and one of the many tasty treats on offer. 

If the weather takes a turn, Little Rascals Soft Play, is the perfect solution for a rainy day. With balls pits, climbing nets and toys aplenty, your tots can burn off some energy while you enjoy a well-earned rest in the café.
