Local Beaches

The best Hebridean beaches

Each and every one of Lewis and Harris' blissful white-sand beaches are a joy to behold when visiting the Outer Hebrides; from the gin-coloured waters that glimmer an astounding palette of turquoise and blues, to the exceptional seashells and gentle tides.

Unlike mainland Britain's beautiful beaches, you tend to find that these mile-wide stretches are often deserted, save for a few curious sheep, ice-white ponies and hairy Highland coos. Our favourite way to enjoy them is to pack up a picnic (stuffed with incredible local delicacies), roll up the towels and slip on the sunglasses, before digging your toes firmly into the sand and wandering along some of Scotland's best kept secrets.
